Kristin McGuire

President and CEO, Young Invincibles

President and CEO

Kristin McGuire is the Executive Director of Young Invincibles, the nation’s largest young adult policy and advocacy organization, where she leads the charge to amplify the voices of young adults in the political process and expand their economic opportunity.

A bold changemaker, McGuire has dedicated her life to ensuring that the most disadvantaged populations have a place in our democracy.

McGuire is a first-generation college student who is driven by a deep understanding of the needs of communities intentionally marginalized and has worked to shift power to young adults from these communities over the last decade.

McGuire’s accomplishments include shaping policies that will protect young Californians as they enter adulthood, such as the College Student Hunger Relief Act of 2016, the California Student Borrowers’ Bill of Rights of 2019, and the Student Civic and Voter Empowerment Act of 2019. She has appeared on Fox Soul, NBC News, and NPR and has been featured in the Washington Post, The Business Insider, and Newsweek

While she is very proud of her work, McGuire’s most prized accomplishment is not her own; it is her mother’s, who integrated her school in Alabama at the age of seven.

“I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for those who blazed the trail before me. Unsung heroes like my mom truly inspire me to continue to work for generations who will come after me.”

Keeping true to her commitment to civic engagement and democracy, McGuire is the first African American elected to the Charter Oak Unified Board of Trustees in Covina, CA (November 2020). Her upbringing, family values, and dedication to the community have led her to fight to ensure educational success for youth at every level and from diverse backgrounds.

McGuire is a proud alumna of California State University Dominguez Hills. She is the wife of a military veteran, a mother to a fantastic daughter, and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
