M. Roy Wilson

M. Roy Wilson, M.D., M.S. is Chancellor Emeritus of the University of Colorado Denver and Health Sciences Center and President Emeritus of Wayne State University. He is currently Distinguished Professor of Ophthalmology at the Kresge Eye Institute of Wayne State.  As an ophthalmologist, Dr. Wilson’s research has focused on glaucoma and blindness in underserved populations, including globally in populations from Asia, the Caribbean, and West Africa.  President Wilson is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine, one of the highest honors in the field of medicine, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Ophthalmological Society, the Glaucoma Research Society, and the Society of Medical Administrators. The recipient of many distinct honors including selection as Michiganian of the Year in 2022, Wilson is a published author of an award-winning book titled The Plum Tree Blossoms Even in Winter.

Dr. Wilson received his undergraduate degree from Allegheny College, an M.S. in epidemiology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and an M.D. from Harvard Medical School.
