Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 Schooling
The Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 Schooling Executive Order shows the administration’s hand in budgetary regulations that will be developed for this fiscal year. There is no need to change anything as of 1/30/25 because the order asks administrative offices of the White House to develop a plan to report back on its directives.
Also, the Order will be challenged in federal courts, most likely, and implementation will vary by state if/when permitted. And AGs in many states will challenge and/or find nuanced ways to implement.
The language regarding ‘sexually exploiting minors’ by teaching about gender and sexuality will be challenged in courts. The funding models in different states for dual enrollment may impact to what extent higher education institutions have to attend to this issue.
Teaching certification programs will be impacted. However, the divisive concepts language of the order has the same flaws as all the others, where false claims are made about what is actually taught in curriculum.
Dual enrollment courses will be impacted in the same way.
The Order signals that FERPA will be changed in some ways for higher education soon.
